About Department

The English Department was established in the year 1967 and B.A. (Hons.) English was introduced in the year 2004. The Department of English, keeping in view the social background of the students, tends to spotlight not only on English academia but also on inter-disciplinary research. Our focus caters to leadership and organizational skills along with the study of literature, we move from language to communication skills fostering holistic development of the students. The faculty is of the view that teaching and learning process should not be restricted to the four walls of the classrooms. Hence, the department provides a platform for the teacher-taught academics engagement through group discussion, seminars, special lectures, and film screening etc. The students are encouraged to take initiatives such as bringing out literary magazines to give full vent to their creativity and inner potential. It also helps those students who intend to venture out to the mass media. The stay of the students in the College tends to be an enriching experience because of this multi-cultural interaction. The heterogeneous environment of the College makes students more humane, more tolerant which in the long run proves to be a progressive step towards the feeling of national integrity.
